Features & Benefits
Construction Communicator™ automates the contract administration paperwork process that industry professionals have struggled with for years.
This online construction project management software was developed for building owners, architects, contractors, engineers and consultants who need an easy way to collaborate and to control the information that keeps a project moving forward on a day-to-day basis. Many of the features in Construction Communicator were developed in direct response to requests from these users. This easy-to-use, Web-based construction management software tracks contract administration "paperwork," including RFIs, ASIs, submittals, CORs, CCOs, CCDs, RFPs, notices to owners and contractors, and contractor payment applications. This Web-based construction collaboration software differs from most of its competition in its:
Ease of use Focus on time-critical information Affordability Online and offline access capability Ease of Use Construction Communicator is the easiest-to-use construction project management software available today. This collaboration tool automates the standard contract administration process. Users see familiar industry formats for entering and tracking information. Pre-set navigation paths automatically route construction communication to architects and consultants without needing names and contact information. Classroom training or instruction is not needed. Users typically begin using the construction management software with little instruction or support. A new user can get right to work entering RFIs and tracking contractor submittals and change orders.
Focus on Time-critical Information This Web-based construction project management software helps users get the information needed to keep projects on track and moving forward on a day-to-day basis. This includes construction "paperwork" such as RFIs, ASIs, submittals, change order requests and notices to owners. Affordability Construction Communicator is much more affordable than you might believe. Pricing for the subscription service is based on the number of users and the number of required features, such as RFIs, submittals or change order requests. Charges cover licensing, maintenance, technical support and Internet hosting. Construction Communicator is available for 30 days without charge or obligation Online and Offline Access Construction Communicator is the only online construction management software that allows users to work with the latest data offline. With the optional Auto-PDF feature, the AEC team can download construction administration records in a PDF file format. This is particularly valuable when traveling or when an Internet connection may not be available. Both progress and final PDF files are available for each RFI, ASI, COR, submittal or other form created with the online construction project management software. The PDF documents include links to any file attachments, which can be opened from within the document. The online construction software updates the progress PDF documents as new information (e.g., a comment from a design consultant or estimator) is added, or when a contract administration document is closed out. At the end of the project, the PDFs are stored on an archival DVD. The DVD automatically loads a screen with a drop-down menu making it easy to find individual RFIs, submittals and CORs. This simplifies a process that can be cumbersome with large archival databases, spreadsheets or individual file attachments. Other Major Features and Benefits Accuracy Members of the AEC team can directly input questions, answers and comments into the online construction collaboration software, eliminating the confusion caused when others retype or reinterpret information. Once information is posted on the Web, all authorized people can see the same information at the same time. Security & Confidentiality Architects, contractors and other authorized people get appropriate access within a secure extranet environment. Also, Construction Communicator preserves the private exchanges of information between subcontractors and the general contractor before a RFI is released, and between the architect and design consultants before a RFI response is released to the project team. This reduces cross-communication and unauthorized approvals. Q&A System The Q&A structure focuses on sharing information that several people need to collaborate effectively and move the project forward. Up-to-date Logs The information logs are updated in real time and members of the AEC team see identical information. Automatic counters track the elapsed response time, enabling the project and construction manager to identify delays and help resolve unresolved items. Drill-down Capabilities Users can quickly toggle between the summary log information and individual screens to view the details. E-mail Notification Users can automatically or selectively e-mail recipients to alert them that new RFIs and change order requests have been posted online. The e-mail includes an active link to the appropriate online entry, and a copy is automatically forwarded to the sender for tracking. Contractor Payment Applications Contractors can prepare and edit payment applications using an online interface that looks and "feels" like a spreadsheet. As new information is entered, the updated line item scrolls upward, giving the user a view of each completed entry. Amounts from previous applications are brought forward with each new application, and approved change orders are automatically added to the Schedule of Values for billing purposes. Amounts for Completed-and-Stored, Percentage Complete and Balance to Finish are automatically calculated. Automatic Logging of Submittal Information The construction software automatically logs submittal information when users enter and print shipping details on a transmittal. Additionally, the software can utomatically log a change order request while entering a field order. Integrated Schedule With the optional ScheduleCom(TM)feature, users can view the complete schedule as well as critical path activities and summary tasks. Users can also apply other scheduling filters including late/over/budget tasks, and incomplete tasks and activities in a given date range. The ability for a group to view the schedule online can be especially valuable in conference calls. Online Calendar A graphical, online calendar displays due dates for open RFIs and submittals. Each due date is linked to a response or comment page. Documents Online Users can attach details and estimates to RFIs, ASIs and change orders, and can view those details with the main document online. Cost estimates can also be viewed online. Effective Management Tool The log shows the status of outstanding items between the architect and general contractor, and identifies overdue responses that can delay critical tasks. View of Multiple Projects The construction collaboration software provides an overall view of the job-wide information flow for multiple projects on a single screen. This helps the construction manager reduce the bottlenecks that occur when individuals do not receive or respond to emails or faxes. Submittal logs, change orders, proposal requests, and notices to owners and contractors can also be submitted and tracked online. Internet Software Users have 24/7 access to real-time information, regardless of location. Contractors and architects can resolve problems even when they are away from their office computers. The construction management software is easily deployed and needs little technical support. The secure construction management tool is immune from the typical problems with faxes and e-mails such as viruses. Data Backup The data is backed up daily and copies are available for download weekly and monthly. The data is also copied to a DVD for archival purposes at the end of the project.
